Welcome! We are part of the Department of Life & Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Merced. Our lab researches sustainable agriculture in California and beyond. Our program specifically focuses on 1) understanding how microbial symbionts influence crop traits, 2) developing management strategies for improving soil health in urbanized landscapes, and 3) identifying strategies and tools farmers can implement to support soil health and biodiversity in field-based agriculture. Our lab is also involved in environmental education and outreach and strives to engage the public in scientific research.
